THE PROBLEM
As a caregiver, I feel more connected to myself….
…said no one ever.
In reality you are feeling disconnected from yourself and the person you used to be...
Exhaustion and overwhelm are your normal
Caregiving is hard because it is HARD. You are not incompetent, but maybe you are not able to show up in a way that feels good for you.
“I don't even recognize myself anymore.”
“I don’t understand why this feels so hard. I raised three kids.”
"I feel like I don't have any time for me.”
“No one else around me gets it.”
"No time to pause. Always over-booked with work, family caregiving (aging parents and young children), and keeping up with the day to day routine. I tend to keep pushing through."
“I just feel exhausted.”
“I’m stressed trying to figure out what isn’t working and how to fix it.”
Don’t feel bad that you feel bad. Seriously. It’s normal.
And at the risk of sounding horribly cliché, the first step is the hardest, but can be the most rewarding
It is more than lack of time that is holding you back.
Guilt stems from two things: Beliefs & Expectations.
Offensive unpopular opinion incoming…
Many of these beliefs and expectations are completely bananas, unrealistic,
wrong, and made up in fantasyland. Or handed down to us by oppressive systems.
What if we could change our expectations and beliefs about what we deserve and actually need? Those negative and judgy feelings would disappear…and in its place…
Reconnection, calm, and empowerment.
Over the years, I have worked with many people to help them understand themselves and create space for value-based decisions.
BENEFITS
The benefits of the virtual open studio.
Feel seen and validated in a community of creative caregivers who "get it."
Use art-making as a regular practice to process emotions, make meaning, and stay grounded.
Reconnect with your identity and voice outside of caregiving.
Have an emotionally replenishing space that supports both your caregiving role and your role as a human.
Experience caregiving not just as a draining role, but as a part of a larger personal story where you still matter.
And since 2008, I have been working with folks in the elder care world and know that we could benefit from simple, clear, effective creative and artistic engagement. Problem is... art-making is seen as a luxury, not a necessity.
That’s why I created a simple, safe container where creative who were also caregivers can reconnect with their own voice and identity through art-making. This is not about creating pretty art or just blowing off steam--It's about finding meaning, self-expression, and connection to self as an essential form of caregiver self-care.
So I did.
That’s why I'm SO flippin’ excited to bring you

SIVAN PERDUE
Sivan’s approach is all about honoring the person, not just the diagnosis. She creates a welcoming, affirming space where individuals of all identities—especially those in the LGBTQIA+ community—can process grief, identity shifts, and life’s big transitions. Using art to express what words can’t, she blends humor, deep empathy, and (sometimes) a little colorful language to help people feel seen, supported, and understood.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Do I need to be artistic
or creative to join?
Not at all. This space is about expression, not skill. You won’t be taught techniques or judged on what you make. Stick figures, scribbles, collage, or simply sitting with materials are all welcome.
Is this therapy? Will I be put on the spot emotionally?
These sessions are therapeutic in nature and facilitated by a licensed art therapist, but this is not individual therapy or group psychotherapy. There’s no pressure to disclose personal details or process trauma publicly. The space is gentle, paced, and trauma‑informed.
What supplies will I need?
Anything that feels good. Simple, accessible materials are encouraged — paper, pen, markers, colored pencils, collage materials, or whatever you already have. You’ll receive a short supply suggestion list, but there’s no need to buy anything special.
You could keep pushing through on autopilot, squeezing creativity into the margins, second-guessing what you need, telling yourself you’ll come back to art someday.
Or you can take a small but meaningful step back into the room with yourself.
The Creative Caregiver Studio isn’t about fixing, performing, or making “good” art. It’s a gently held space where curiosity is welcome, pressure is low, and you get to show up exactly as you are.
No explaining.
No perfection.
No carrying anyone else.
Whether you’re a longtime creative or someone who hasn’t made art in years, this space is designed to help you reconnect—without overwhelm. The structure is supportive, the prompts are optional, and the focus is on staying connected to yourself, not producing something impressive.
This isn’t another thing to manage.
It’s a place to breathe, explore, and remember you still exist beyond caregiving.
I can’t wait to connect!
